SmarterMail 17 (or mapi BETA) - IDN domains support

Hello,

Today a customer registered a bunch of IDN domain names and asked us to enable some on SmarterMail as primary domains and some as domain aliases.

Is there a way to have IDN domain names working with SmarterMail ?

At least it looks like the domain could be added only using the IDN domain name format (punnycode?), as using accents in domain name field prevent the domain to be added.

I found old posts about this question but without any further information:

Thank you for your help.

Actually, it seems to work using the punny code as the domain name in smartermail.

I was able to send a message to the IDN domain name I added.

However when I reply to the received message, from the webmail, the "from" address used is the punny code instead of the IDN accented e-mail address.

To be honest, this whole IDN domains thing is a pain and I wish it never existed. But still we have customers that want to use it :/

Update:

Actually we can only add IDN domain aliases and not primary domains, because the domain name validator refuses the "--" that are required in punny codes.

New domain:

New domain alias:

Trying to add the domain via api: (domain-put)

{"message":"Domain name cannot use a double hyphen\r\n"},

Tested on production stable version 7242

We need a fix for this please!
Thanks a lot in advance.
