Inbox sub-folder moved still showing Inbox items
Problem reported by Ravi Ram - 3/31/2020 at 9:39 AM

I mistakenly created a new folder 'Disney' and places it within the INBOX. After a few days I realized that 'Disney' folder should have NOT have been placed within the INBOX. I moved the 'Disney' folder from the INBOX to the Root folder.

Now when a new email arrives, so of them land within the 'Disney' folder and the rest are in the INBOX.

I have deleted the 'Disney' folder, but when some new email arrives, SM re-creates the 'Disney' folder and places new emails in it, the rest land in the INBOX.

I am not sure how to stop new emails landing in the folder 'Disney' (which is in the ROOT folder).

Ravi, do you have plus addressing or a content filter configured to move messages into that Disney folder?

I don't think so.  I created it on Sunday and moved it on Monday. I did not intentionally create any PLUS addressing OR rules for it.

I disabled the Plus Addressing for now.

Hi Ravi,

If the messages that are being routed to the Disney folder are being routed due to Plus Addressing, the To recipient of those emails would be YourUsername+Disney@yourdomain.com.

If the emails are addressed to YourUsername+Disney@yourdomain.com, and you disable Plus Addressing, please note that these emails will no longer reach your account at all. If you still want to receive them (and you just want them to be delivered to the Inbox instead), I'd encourage you to create an alias for YourUsername+Disney so you continue to receive those emails.

If the messages being routed to the Disney folder do not have a To recipient of YourUsername+Disney@yourdomain.com, then the routing is likely being done by a user or domain content filter.

Please feel free to give us a call during business hours and we can try to help you determine how these are being routed to the Disney folder.
