Removed alias but emails still go to main account

So we setup 2 alias accounts for a user and he wanted them to be there own regular mailbox. So I deleted the alias and created the account as a regular mailbox. However, mail sent to the account that was the alias, still goes to the account that was originally tied to the main mailbox. I disabled CatchAll Alias but it makes no difference. How do I stop the email from going to the former alias account?

Antony, do you by chance have a gateway set up for incoming messages on this customer's domain? If not, I recommend checking the accountlist.xml or accounts.json file within this domain to see if there might still be remnants of those settings present. Let me know what you find out :)
