Sending email to mailing list causes double footer

I've created a mailing list in Smartermail. The Digest Footer is not being used. 

We have a domain level footer enabled for all messages. We have "Apply to mailing lists" turned off. 

When sending an email from my account to the mailing list, both on the same smartermail server, the email received by the recipient has two footers applied. The footers are our domain level footer. 

I'm assuming smartermail is appending the footer to my original email sent from my account then again when the mailing list sends to it's subscribers. 

Anyone have suggestions on how to deal with this?
