mailing list not sending
Question asked by Sue Moore - 12/2/2019 at 7:15 AM
Unanswered
Hi I have just set up a new mailing list.  Its status is "enabled".  It is on the global mailing list so I can pick up the list name via contacts.

On pressing "send" for the email I get an immediate error message "unable to validate recipients" and the mail does not go.   The email addresses look OK but obviously I can't validate them until the email is sent.

Help please...... how do I get the mail to send?

Hi Sue,

What version or build of SmarterMail are you currently running? Do you have other mailing lists that ARE working?  Can you provide a screenshot of the options for your new mailing list (you can remove or blur out the list name or any other information you don't want public)?

So sorry but I don't know the version and can't see anything that tells me.   I have discovered I can get the mailing list working by deleting it and setting it up again with all the names on a single copy/paste, rather than adding them in one by one.    But its a real pain to have to do this every time I want to add a new name to an exiting list.   This same fault and solution happens with all my mailing lists regardless of options.  Thanks

When you login as the SmarterMail administrator. select the icon in the right corner then select "About SmarterMail". If you are not a SM admin, contact your provider to get the version.

You can also identify the version by doing a "view source" in your browser, when connected to the webmail login page.

And grab the version, at least for v16/v100(17).

Sue,

To add to the echoDreamz and Sebastien's suggestions, you can also go to your diagnostic page to see the exact version.  If you are 15.x or older then you should be able to go to mail.mydomain.com/about/checkup.aspx.  On 16.x and newer you would use mail.mydomain.com/about/checkup.  Where "mail.mydomain.com" is your normal url for the login page.

Just to close off this thread - I gave up trying to get this to work and started using a different system to send group emails.
