ClamD Removal, Spam Assassin removal - from main mail server
Question asked by Merle Wait - 9/8/2019 at 5:58 AM
Unanswered
We use declude  on our two main inbound email servers.
All  4 inbound servers use some sort of spam filtering
The actual email server, used by our clients.. is not expected to receive any email from the outside world.

Does it make sense to run Spam-In-A-Box (Spam Assassin for Windows) .. on the main email server (given the above) ??
What about CLAMD ??  It uses more CPU that SmarterMail.. on average..

We are slowly prepping to migrate to what ever the current build of SM is, but we are trying to extend our time on the current box.  Our machine keeps pegging out at 99% CPU usage,  so looking for some relief

Hi Merle. As you probably know, layers of spam and virus protection are very important. If you do not want to run AS and AV on the main email server that is understandable. However, if you are going to remove these, try to add another layer of protection to your gateways just to be safe. Just my 2 cents :)
