v17 EAS outlook 2016 cannot connect

I have customers with outlook 2016 and EAS connection. 
After upgrading from v16 to v17 the account cannot sync


Cause: This problem occurs because Outlook does not support connections to a server that is running Exchange Server by using the EAS protocol.

is this because mapi is also running on v17?
