Block Sender
Question asked by Universal4 - 6/28/2019 at 12:06 PM

When selecting an email in the inbox and choosing "Block Sender" does not actually block the sender from sending email to the recipient again, why does it say block sender?

When previous versions used to say "Send to Junk Mail" at least that made more sense to users since that is the function that took place.

If the recipient is taking the time to add a sender to a block list, and that list is parsed when the mail arrives, why isn't the email actually blocked? It seems to me that the amount of time and over head needed to determine the sender is on the block list and to send to the spam folder, it would make much more sense to "drop" the mail instead of accepting it and moving to the junk mail folder.

Maybe change the statement back to an intelligent response of adding the sender to the junkmail list but adding a choice to add sender to a drop or refuse list.

Hi,

Can you check the user's spam filtering settings for Blocked Senders?  If this is set to None then nothing will happen to those they block.  The user needs to have Move to Junk Email Folder, Move to Deleted Items Folder, or Delete as the action.

What build did it start blocking the sender from sending email to the recipient again?

This functionality should be present in the last few major versions of SmarterMail. Have you checked to make sure the user has the sender listed as a blocked sender, and that SmarterMail has been configured to send Blocked Senders to the junk mail folder? I've attached a screenshot of where this needs to be set within the user's account settings:
