Failed to load domain after creating e-mail account
Problem reported by Pablo Garcia - 1/16/2019 at 2:00 AM

Hello,

When I try to create e-mail accounts which contain the string "aux." (for example aux.whatever@example.com), I receive a "failed to create" error.

Then the domain where I create these accounts stop working and I receive the message "Failed to load" related to this domain.

This event happens if I create the e-mail account through web portal or web services (API). I have installed the last version "SmarterMail Enterprise Version - 100.0.6948".

Is "aux." a reserved string?

Thanks in advance.

.aux appears to be on a reserved list for Windows

Thank you Jade. This seems to be the reason :(

Is there any workaround from Smartertools?

Nice catch, Jade D.

If your domain is in a broken state I'd remove the account from your C:\SmarterMail\Domains\<The Domain>\accounts.json file. Make sure SmarterMail isn't running while you do this.

I'll put in a task to add "aux." (and others) to our validator for email addresses. This will prevent SmarterMail from even trying to create that user.

Pleasure guys

Try adding the aux user as an alias as this should allow a work around as no folder is being created on the server.
