Message Footer being added to both Incoming and Outgoing mails

Resolved

When we enabled - Enable footer for all messages which is for adding footer to outgoing messages. But we have seen that it is being added to Incoming messages as well.

Ishan, what version of SmarterMail are you running?  Is a footer being added to ALL incoming messages?  Are you using any gateways in your configuration?

Ishan, after reviewing the code, help documentation, and speaking with the development and communication teams, the footer is behaving as expected.  The footer feature was first introduced in SmarterMail 8 and appended the footer to all incoming AND outgoing messages.  The same basic code is still implemented in the latest versions of SmarterMail.  We are going to update the help documentation to ensure that it reads both incoming and outgoing messages.

However, we have also added a feature request / discussion item for possible future implementation to introduce a new setting that would allow the user / admin to specify whether the footer is applied to incoming, outgoing, or both messages.

We are running SmarterMail v16 , latest. Our customers need the Message Footer added only to emails that they send, not to emails that they receive.

I recommend that you use Signatures to append the message to only outgoing messages. At this time, the Message Footer is intended for incoming and outgoing messages. However, as Robert mentioned above, we added a discussion item for allowing administrators to specify whether the footer is applied to incoming, outgoing, or both messages.
