Control KB Folder Access
Idea shared by Edward Rishel - 9/19/2018 at 6:18 AM
Completed
We are currently running SmarterTrack Enterprise 11.0 and I want to start using the KB features more.

Is there a way to assign roles access to folders of the KB so, for example, users/agents of "Product A" can only see the KB articles in folder "Product A" and the users/agents of "Product B" can only see the KB articles in folder "Product B"?

Thanks,

Ed

At this time, there is no way to control access to specific KB folders. I have gone ahead and marked this thread as an Idea, and added the feature to our internal tracking system for further discussion.

In a build earlier this year, we fixed some issues with controlling visibility of articles by using roles.

  1. Start by setting KB article access to None for the roles Registered User, Registered User with Verified Email, and Agent. You can do this for all default roles, but this is the minimum you will need to do.
  2. Create custom roles to grant permissions to the desired folders. NOTE: View permissions may not work as expected when only granted for sub folders and not for top level folders:
  3. Assign the new roles to the appropriate users.
