MRS/global.asax missing after update to version 16.3.6782

After updating to version 16.3.6782 from 16.3.6754 (not sure), the webmail stopped working. When I noticed that the global.asax file did not exist in the MRS folder, I copied the global.asax file from a backup, and the webmail worked correctly.

Did you uninstall 16.3.6754 before upgrading or did you upgrade over the top of your existing installation?  I have tried both types of installations in my test environment, and the Global.aspx file is properly in the MRS folder.  Any additional information would help determine any potential bugs with the installer.

I did not uninstall. I upgraded over the previous version. Immediately afterwards, I used a program (SyncBackSE) already configured to make a backup of some folders of SmarterMail (Assets, IIS Tool, MRS, Resources, Service, Web Server) in another location. I have been following the same procedure for years with the same program and the same copy configuration. Only after making the backup copy I realized that the webmail failed and that the ‘global.asax’ file was missing. I cannot be sure, that the Smartermail upgrade program was responsible for the disappearance of the file. It could have been the backup program although it is a program that I use a lot and I have never failed before.

I've made a note of this in case it happens again. Restoring an older copy of the Global.aspx is a proper workaround for this issue. On your next upgrade, please let us know if it happens again.
