Many Customers Reporting AVG Issues
Problem reported by Matthew Sine - 7/12/2018 at 4:18 AM

Hi,
We started taking tickets about 2 weeks ago - after updating to the build that fixed issues with shared calendars. The gist is that users are no longer able to download attachments via webmail. If this was a on-off I would not be too worried, but suddenly a large influx of tickets about this problem is concerning.

Since both SmarterMail and AVG regularly update, I know it can be either, or both.

The message is "network failed" and AVG pops up a warning about malware threat blocked.

If any other sysadmins are seeing this and have a suggested work-around let us know. Adding our mail server to the bypass URL option in avg https://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?l=en&urlName=How-to-make-exclusions-from-all-scans-and-shields&supportType=home
Does not make any difference. The customers cannot download from webmail, period.

No malware is being introduced, the attachments in question have all been thoroughly checked.

Any suggestions are welcome.
