user experience slowness/hang trying to access email via webmail.

Dear All, 
 
My client is using SmarterMail Enterprise 15.6
one of the user email account have 17thousands of contacts in the his email account.
Whenever he login to the webmail he experience slowness/hang to access his emails and everything.
 
I have tried create a  new email account for him but once i import the data into the new email account same issue occur.
 
Any idea on how to resolve this issue?
