We have a SmarterMail 16x server which we host a few thousand email accounts on.  We have a couple of domain which are set as 'External (use host address)' as Incoming Message Delivery method as we just act as a gateway for these domains.  The issue is that the Spam/AV detection for these domains doesn't work.  I was under the impression that the AV/AS engine would still process the emails before attempting to deliver them to the forwarding email server.

 

I would appreciate anyone else using SmarterMail in the way to confirm if this is expected or if I'm missing a setting somewhere.
