Lots of problems with File Storage
Problem reported by Ton Trommelen - 1/2/2018 at 6:57 AM
Resolved
I'm using SM 16.3.6565

Today I started using "File Storage" for the first time....and after about two minutes the first problems presented themselves;

Background: I first created some folders....and in one folder I created a subfolder.

1. a folder I removed suddenly appeared again after I uploaded a file
2. just did a "two file drag&drop upload" to the subfolder .....and the files show up in the folder I uploaded them to: GOOD ...but they also show up in a folder I did NOT upload them to: NOT GOOD
3. I thought of starting with a clean slate...and started to remove each folder one by one....but after deleting one folder another folder was also removed!
4. The first time around I created a folder called "Temp"....and this one was removed while removing another folder.....and now I can't create a folder named "Temp" anymore: I get a red "Action Failed" message. The same goes for some other folders I removed earlier; I get an "Action Failed" when trying to re-create them

So although File Storage seems like a very usuable feature it seems riddled with problems.....please fix!

Regards,
Ton.

I just tested this myself against our live server and noticed the Folder behavior. I was not able to reproduce your #2, I think 1, 3, and 4 are all related to the same problem.

I've put this on our list of things to fix and I will update the thread as it more develops. If you want to try reproducing #2 again (from a refresh, clean slate) and making sure your steps reproduce the issue. If you have any more information regarding it, we can try to reproduce it again.

Matt, how about logging/accounting of File Storage operations like creation/deletion/moving/sharing of files and foldera by particular user? Right now, administrators are simply blind about what happened...

So far I can't reproduce #2. I suspect it is also related to the other issues...

#1, #3, and #4 have been fixed, whereas #2 I also was unable to replicate. This fix will be included in the next release.
