Duplicate Email Behaviour

Hi,
Using latest SmarterMail v15
 
I would like to check with the community of this email flow behaviour before I approach SmarterTools support team.
 
peter@companyA.com (Hosted in SmarterMail, Normal Mailbox)
nick@companyA.com  (Hosted in SmarterMail, Normal Mailbox)
IT@companyA.com -> nick@companyA.com (Alias)
john@companyB.com (External Server)
 
If peter@companyA.com send an email to nick@companyA.com and cc to IT@companyA.com, nick@company.com will only receive 1 copy of the email even nick belongs to a alias group in IT@
 
However, if john@companyB.com from external sent an email to nick@companyA.com and cc to IT@companyA.com, nick@company.com will only receive 2 copy of the email
 
Let me know if this is a expected behaviour as the end-user does not know whether the email conversation is looped in a group email
