I know about the migration tool within the web interface.  That tool accomodates one user per use.  We need to migrate hundreds of users.  I am looking for any assistance with scripts that can connect to the webservice and perform migrations in an automated way.

I don't know of anyone who writes scripts for this, however, you may want to check out IMAPSync: https://imapsync.lamiral.info/  or Transend: https://www.transend.com/products/transend-migrator/ They may be something you can use. I will ask a few of my contacts if they know of anyone who have successfully written scripts for this.

IMAP does not transfer contacts, calendars, or notes.  I need a script that connects to the Web SOAP service on SmarterMail in order to instruct it to start migrations.

You may want to also check out Migrationwiz by Bittitan. It's a tool which allows for any types of migrations. I know for a fact that for certain platforms, it does migrate the mail, contacts, calendars and tasks. It's worth a look in my opinion. :)
