GOOGLE.COM Now Blocks Specific E-Mail Attachments

Google has quietly added a new source of technical support for all SmarterMail, and other MX servers.

They are now BLOCKING any message which contains any attachments ending in the following;

.ADE, .ADP, .BAT, .CHM, .CMD, .COM, .CPL, .EXE, .HTA, .INS, .ISP, .JAR, .JSE, .LIB, .LNK, .MDE, .MSC, .MSP, .MST, .PIF, .SCR, .SCT, .SHB, .SYS, .VB, .VBE, .VBS, .VXD, .WSC, .WSF, .WSH

If we wish to use this to block attachments with such extensions then HOW !!! i dont think still content filtering is that great in SM infact it still doesn't work as it should.

Thanks for the posts, Matthew. While Outlook goes much further at blocking extebsions, I have both users, and customers with users, who are turning to the SmarterMail web interface., and I suspect that the number of web interface users will climb with the full deployment of SmarterMail 16.X We alk need to be prepared, especially for custoners who use insurance underwriting, ans,similar types of software to auto-generate policies and their supporting documents - which is what brought to my attention that GOOGLE.COM is now,rigidly enforcing the .ZIO rule... It's all about educating our customers, before they overwhelm our support teams.
