Dramatically reduce the starting time of the SmarterMail.
Idea shared by Flávio Eduardo Cardoso - 8/19/2016 at 10:52 AM
Proposed
When SmarterMail starts it needs to read the following files for each domain:
domainconfig.xml
companyinfo.xml
mailinglist.db
domain.cfg
accountlist.xml
filestore.xml
userConfig.xml

But these files are in the domains folder.
My suggestion is simple: Allow these files can be placed in another path, so that we can use SSDs for these files and start the SmarterMail in less than 2 minutes even when it has thousands of domains. Today our SmarterMail take more than 15 minutes to start with 10K SAS drives and 3000 domains.

The architecture that I recommend would be like this:
SSDs for: OS, Index, Spool and the new folder for config files listed above.
SAS 10K disks for: other files.

Really good idea, Flavio. Would be nice (and probably not very difficult) to change SM to "break out" these settings.

That would be a fairly decent architecture change. If SmarterMail is taking that long to start up, then there's something else going on. It may be worthwhile to start a ticket with our support team so they can get on the the box and take a look.

IMHO you can reopen ticket:

3C1-1EDEF04B-0B08

During ticket resolving there was one time when SM started quite fast but recently it is starting lets say about 5-10-15 minutes (probably it depends on what hour it is being restarted).

Issue has been also discussed here:
