Smartermail 15.x and no password lookup

I usually keep up with the most current version of Smartermail but have elected to NOT do this to version 15 because the password lookup feature was removed. I use this heavily because of the type of environment I deal with.

Has anyone developed some offline feature or work around to be able to lookup passwords? Id gladly purchase that feature.

The API can still return passwords. I'm sure a developer could quite easily hook into that API with a client based program and fetch passwords as needed.

Make sure the admin account that you use for this API has permissions to retrieve passwords via API.

Is this option to retrieve passwords slated to be deleted? If it is I don't want to spend Money/Resources on getting a app.
