501 HELO requires valid address

Facts:
 
  • Version 14.2
  • Running okay years short of lots of spam issues
  • Fairly robust changes to spam filter made
  • Most mail is delivered however getting failures with error messages such as: 
    • 501 HELO requires valid address
​
    • 501 Invalid host name mail.xxxxxxx.com/.
    • 501 5.0.0 Invalid domain name
    • 501 5.5.4 Invalid domain name
