Schannel Error
Question asked by Mike Roe - 9/23/2015 at 5:18 AM
Unanswered
I keep getting this error message on my mail server 13.3.5535.  Windows 2008 R2 server with nothing else running but mail.

Event ID 36887

The following fatal alert was received: 46.

Has anyone ever sen this and how did you fix it?
I have followed a lot of Microsoft issues and nothing has worked.

I am working on going to 14 but have not made the jump yet.

Thanks
Mike

I am getting similar errors relating to SSL / schannel and maybe you want to take a look at this thread below

http://portal.smartertools.com/community/a86862/tls-1_2-error.aspx

for reference I get the following errors so maybe you can check if you also have them.

The following fatal alert was received: 42.

The following fatal alert was generated: 10. The internal error state is 1203.

An TLS 1.2 connection request was received from a remote client application, but none of the cipher suites supported by the client application are supported by the server. The SSL connection request has failed.

Keep in mind you are running SM 13.3.5535 but TLS 1.2 is not supported in all mail versions less than 14.2, if you reference that thread.

I think that error happens, because you have a self signed certificate on your server that's not trusted. I don't mean for your "Smarter Webmail Account". I mean for your computer. Everytime you access your computer with remote desktop, etc - It tosses that error.
