Good Antivirus solution

Hello,
I have SmarterMail Enteeprise 14.2
I have many problems with ClamAV.
Many times viruses are not detected (especially when contained in zip or rar).
Many times ClamAV failes scand and I find this error on log:
 
Unable to run Clam virus checks: System.Net.Sockets.SocketException (0x80004005): No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it 127.0.0.1:3310
 
 
I search definitive solution for a good antivirus.
You have any suggestions on a good antivirus to integrate with SmarterMail ?

We have a similar problem. After we restart our server ClamAV will run for a day or so and then it fails. We start getting many of the "Unable to run Clam virus checks..." messages in the delivery log.

IMHO you should try to install on your Windows system separate ClamAV instance instead one provided with SmarterMail.

Try this one:

After installing it install it as a service (I think there is a .bat file for that in installation directory) and then create scheduled task directly in Windows scheduled tasks for running freshclam every day. Then mark ClamAV as a remote service in SmarterMail but keep other configuration (like 127.0.0.1).

solution provided by Joe greatly improves ClamAV performance (I'm also using it - paid version - on all of my gateways).

Here you have stats for yesterday (21.08.2015) one of three gateways which I use:

8/21/2015 - 80421 46

first number if Connections and second one is Failed Connections. Here you have information from Viruses section im Reports:

8/21/2015 40299

Running ClamAV managed by SmarterMail caused my a lot of issues and starting ClamAV as a separate service fixed all of them.
