Backup Using IBackup.com
Question asked by Maik Tomé - 8/17/2015 at 9:36 PM

hi
I am using the backup solution IBackup.com
I can set to get the folders

C: \ SmarterMail \ Domains
and
C: \ Program Files (x86) \ SmarterTools \ SmarterMail

You have a problem if you configure the backup with SmarterMail running?

Thanks
Maik

I'm afraid to corrupt a file in use

You could try stopping the service and doing a backup.

Then turn on the service and do some testing, backing it up while it's running. If something gets corrupted you will have your main backup.

If you have another environment you can test on, you can try doing some experimentation on another machine.

Thanks for the feedback.
positive, at first I'm going to stop the service
then I will test with SmarterMail running for the correct function is backed up with the running service, this backup will be automatic and daily.

I can simulate the restoration in a SmarterMail on my machine as a test?

Thanks
Maik

on your local machine or a different server, yes. Don't expect it to work as a functioning email server, but you can test to make sure data wasn't lost by logging into accounts and such.

great, the test will be important just to see if the backup was successful
