IMAP Retrieval cannot sync sent Items

I use the IMAP Retrieval ( automatic ) to retrieve emails from my old email server to a sub folder under the new smartermail email server.
I create a subfolder called old email server.
The retrieval is successful and I can get email update of the Inbox from old email server to the smartermail server subfolder named old email server.
However I cannot see the sent item email update of the old email server.
The sent items is only up to the last retrieval date on the 14th Nov 2014 when I setup the email retrieval. The sent item folder does not sync with the old email server to the subfolder that I created at the smartermail server.
Only the Inbox under the subfolder I created at the smartermail server is in sync with the old email server. 
My plan is to use IMAP retrieval automatic to sync the email accounts from old server email to the new smartermail server for the next few weeks so that all accounts can setup at the smartermail server successfully before I switch the email server permanently to the smartermail server using DNS setting. Point the DNS server to the smartermail server to receive email.
My question is how can I get the sent items in sync with between the old email server to the smartermail server ?
