Searching by ticket number

Every time I have a customer on the phone and I try to find a ticket number they give me, ST11.x return me a bundle of 20 records and I need to search inside this one the good ticket. It's really annoying when your customer is waiting on the phone. Why does the system return these records who didn't match my complete ticket number ?

Do you enter the ticket number in the Ticket Number field or the Search String field? Also, please provide your full version number found by going to Help > About SmarterTrack.

I'm not talking from the advanced search but the standard search present in the datagrid on each page on the top right. So it's only a search string field. 
 
My version number is the : 11.0.5640.26313

Does it really matter where the ticket number is searched? You guys really seem to have no concept of how search should work. Regardless where you type it the results should be only that ticket number.
