iPhone unable to open .PDF files in Webmail
Question asked by Sonny Coleman - 6/23/2015 at 7:44 AM
Unanswered
Is there a setting in Smartermail to allow iPhones to open .PDF file attachments? Android phones open .PDF attachments fine, but all company iPhones cannot open .PDF attachments.

Thanks!

It might be an obvious question, but does the phone have a PDF reader installed?

Sorry for the incomplete support request.

1. I just uninstalled the existing (non-working) iPhone Adobe Reader and downloaded/installed the latest version of the Adobe Reader and still no joy.
2. I'm running SmarterMail version 14 (updated last week)

Thanks for the quick response!

Additional Information:
When clicking on a .PDF attachment from an iPhone (using Chrome and SmarterMail's Mobile interface) the following message appears:

"The page contains the fllowing errors:
error on line 1 at column 1: Document is empty
Below is a rendering of the page up to the first error. The "below" rendering is blank.

The .PDF attachments in all messages produce the same error message when the attachment icon is clicked.

The same message PDF attachments work fine when using PC and Android phone SmarterMail webmail.

I guess we are the only Smartermail users who can't open PDF attachments from an iPhone. How do I get some effective customer assistance regarding this very serious issue. Not being able to open PDF attachments from the Mobil interface makes using the Smartermail interface impractical when you have to forward emails to Gmail and Yahoo web mail to open a simple PDF files.
