Smartermail Email Device/Computer only syncing
Problem reported by William Gauderman - 11/12/2014 at 8:41 PM

Hello All, I'm finding myself pulling hair out attempting to find out what is going on with me email. It appears my email is on the fritz.

Originally, my email was having issues syncing with my apple devices (Iphone & Ipad). Although properly setup with Imap settings if an email was received on my apple device it would disappear from my online smartermail account. It was suggested to ask my domain to update the version we were using.

We are now at Smartermail 12.4 .

Now, I'm experiencing an even worse issue and I cannot understand it. I have two computers which I access email on via a url to my smartermail account.

If an email is received on my personal computer, it will not show up on my work computer. I have different emails on each computer accessing the same URL. How smarter mail even knows they are two different devices is beyond me.

Whats interesting is my phone now syncs the same emails as my personal computer. Yet, my work computer has another set of emails the phone and personal computer cannot receive.

Which ever device I refresh first gets and stores the new mail.

Any ideas?

There seems to be something seriously wrong with your installation of smartermail. This is not normal behaviour by any means.

There is nothing wrong with the installation. There are multiple other accounts associated to the installation that do not have any of the issues he is experiencing, including my own.

Well I doubt others are experiencing this behaviour, this is something that you would need to open a ticket for most likely.

I also find it strange that you can say there is nothing wrong with the installation... People looking for help are usually more open minded.

It's been tried on two separate, stable installations now. I suppose it's easy to find it "strange" if you assume that we didn't try to resolve the issue ourselves before posting here, since that is likely what most people do. If anything, by stating that it is not likely the installation, the hope is that we won't have to waste time going over tests that we have already covered in our attempt to correct the situation.

Issues like this can only be diagnosed by opening a support ticket.
