Auto Responder is not able to send messages to those outside of the domain.

Auto responder does not send to those who are outside of the domain for us.  Is this by design  or should it be sending responses to outside senders?  What would be preventing them from responding to outside senders? Thanks.

I have reports of this happening at one of our domains, too. I tried reproducing the problem and can not, it works fine. Were you able to resolve what was happening?

We have Version 11.7.5091 and there was a similar report here that was supposed to be fixed in v11.1: http://forums.smartertools.com/threads/auto-responder-not-working.39069/

Loretta,
I was able to figure out what was happening.  In our environment, our SmarterMail domain is a remote domain to our exchange environment.  In our exchange environment for each smartermail user we had a mail contact and a distribution group.  I noticed that when we tried auto responder to an external address that an email loop was created between the mail contact address and the distribution group address.

We eliminated the distribution group, adding its addresses to the mail contact.  That's what resolved it.
