Can Smartermail 13 run on a Windows 7 Machine?

Hi everyone. I'm aware that the Smartermail 12 and 13 documentation states that those versions need to be installed on at least a Windows 2008 R2 server. My question is.. can those versions install and run correctly on a Windows 7 box? If yes, does that box need to be 64-bit or can it be 32-bit? Thanks.

Yes it can be installed on Windows 7 and 8/8.1. It runs best on 64-bit, I wouldn't recommend 32-bit but it will still run.

Be aware that Webmail runs better in IIS than with SM's built-in web server. There are notes out there about running IIS under Win 7.

There are apparently some connection limits in using IIS under workstation versions of Windows. This could affect the total number of webmail users.

I don't think it would affect other "Internet" connections (SMTP, POP, IMAP), although it might run afoul of MS licensing for those workstation versions.
