Hi,

SM v 13.x latest build.

Off lately customers are complaining about send/receive failure with stand error of outlook saying something like "if further problem persists pls contact your ISP / System administrator"

Net connection is good as other mails in outlook gets synced properly, but SM related ID gets failed, if i try to reboot the net router then it works fine for a while again this issue comes up.

though this points outlook pst file issue too but in mycase pst is within 1GB and even tried repairing it with scanpst file.

Other option i see is to increase the wait period but what could be other issue here ?

Thanks..

When you reboot the router are you being assigned a different IP Address from the ISP? The problem might be SM is adding the IP to the block list (Abuse Detection). Therefore when it happens again check the client IP against the current block list - Manage (spanner) > Current IDS Blocks

Hi, I tried the way you suggested and it seems the reason, i was getting send/receive failure and check my ISP IP is added under reason : Denial of Service - POP, is there any other option besides increasing the count or may be reduce the block period.. Thanks for the support.

If this is only happening on one account instead of looking at changing the server settings you really need to look at why the server thinks it's getting a DOS from your IP. Check your accounts, make sure you haven't got another device connecting using an old password. Make sure your settings are correct on your devices.

I checked with user, there were some outgoing mails in bulk but then this was added due to POP which would be incoming related, also this same email id is configured in more than 1 device and works in all which means password would be updated (same for all) When it blocked for Denial of POP so for server its IC/OG ? Settings for this rule is 75 connections in 10 mins, does this mean mail to/from 75 ids, i mean 1 connection = 1 email id or ..

As replied earlier, i was getting send/receive failure and at same time checked my ISPs IP which is added to block under reason : Denial of Service - POP, checked with user there were no such bulk incoming or outgoing mails.

what could be the issue here ?

Thanks

Hi,

Any one facing similar issue to this, send/receive error and on check ISP IP is getting blocked due with DENIAL OF POP, current settings are 50 mails in 10 mins and block for 60 mins, also as per scenario this is more happening where same email id is configured as POP/IMAP in more than 1 system.

Thanks
