Post Comment boxes can be hidden?
Idea shared by Steve Reid - 8/22/2014 at 5:51 AM
Under Consideration
I'm wondering if there isn't a better way to do the "Post Comment" section under each reply. Like maybe that should be minimized by default, having a comment button that then expands the section to expose the input box and the "Post Comment" button??

Hi Steve,

Thanks for your feedback! I went ahead and changed the type of this thread to an "Idea" so that other users can vote on this suggestion as well.

We actually had the comment section similar to how you describe.   Customers asked for it to be open because it was not being used enough and that this allowed for very quick comments to be made.

With all these comment boxes, it makes it very confusing to read.  It's hard to tell what post was posted when to follow what's happening, it should be linear.

Is there any real difference between a comment and a reply? Or are they the same exact thing?

Comments stay with the post they commented on. For example, this comment is a direct response to your post while a reply to the thread would be related to the original post that created the thread.

Yes I see how that works now, thanks!

Replies will no longer reorder by votes. They are now shown in chronological order. Additionally we have added read/unread states to aid in identifying updated threads on the main Community page and new content on the thread page itself.
