In early versions of SmarterMail was possible to limit the number of subscribers of a mailing list, but in later versions SmarterMail administrators lost control of this aspect and a mailing-list can grow indefinitely... at least while the system is able to process messages that fall into the spool.

 

I think for the companies that make shared hosting this is an essential feature, to enable better management of resources in accordance with the acceptable use policy of the company.

 

The mailing lists can even be used to circumvent other quotas that prevent sending of large bulk messages. Users who ran into "Message Throttling Reject action" in "Outgoing Messages per Hour" can solve the problem creating a mailing list...
