Is there a way to block all or specific attachments (.exe,.zip...) from being sent?
As far as I am aware Content Filtering is only Inbound so I wouldn't have thought this would be possible.

CCWH is correct that content filters are inbound only.  At this time you will not be able to block outbound attachment from SmarterMail.
Could you consider changing this topic to a feature request?
