.grp is corrupt
Question asked by Uwe Degenhardt - 1/9/2015 at 10:27 AM
Unanswered
We have SM 9.4 Enterprise

Unfortunately I got
Exception: The group file e:\directorya\directoryb\customer1\Users\mailbox1\Mail\Inbox\xxx.grp is corrupt
(The mailboxes doesn't show any new eMails anymore).
What could be the best way to get out of it ?
We don't have a current backup of the mailbox and the above mailbox is used with IMAP only and has a complex folderstructure (built via WebInterface) build from the user.
Any ideas ?

ok. Here is my update. I saw that the .grp-file is 0Byte. So I had overwritten it with a file on a folder beyond the one which is corrupted. Now at least the mailbox is working. :-) But I didn't see the missing mails ? :-O Any clues where they are ?

You would need to restore the corrupt file from a good backup.

Do somebody know an any tool to check an grp-file for corruptness?

I would be interested in an answer too. The only thing I can say is, that you can see the error-messages in the IMAP-log-file. Did you check it ?

Created a utility you can download here https://1drv.ms/u/s!AnLJ8H2HLbsEl1Wx11V6Zvh5HUQT simply extract it, edit the batch file to match your SmarterMail root domains path, save and close, run the check.bat and you are good to go.

Thanks! I will use it, when this happens for me again. Altough in 14.4 it has not reappeared again yet.
