Move a Site to Another Server

System administrators using SmarterStats Enterprise can easily move a site from one server to another. This allows the system administrator to free up disk space on the server while retaining the historical data.

Applies to SmarterStats Enterprise 6.x - 11.x

Follow these steps to move a SmarterStats site to a new server:

  1. Log in as the system administrator.
  2. Click the sites icon. A list of existing sites in SmarterStats will load in the navigation pane.
  3. Select the desired site. Then click the Actions menu in the navigation pane toolbar and click Move Site.
  4. Complete the following required fields: Destination Server, New SmarterLog Path, New Log Export Path, and New Log Export URL. (Newer versions longer require the configuration of the export URL/path per site. Exported logs are downloaded locally.)
  5. Click Save.
SmarterStats will now move the site to the new server. The time it takes to move the site will depend on the size of the site.

I'm not clear on what the "New Log Export Path" and "New Log Export URL refer to. When I choose to move site, it fills in the New SmarterLog path by default, but I can't find settings on the old server that are the equivalent of the Log Export Path or Log Export URL.

Hi Jane. New versions of SmarterStats no longer require the extra step of configuring the export URL/path per site. Exported logs are downloaded locally and dynamically. You can export a log's sites by logging in as the Site Admin and going to Settings > Site Settings > Export Logs. This article has been updated to reflect that.
