Reported visitor browser versions
Question asked by webber - 12/8/2014 at 4:00 PM

Hello,

In an effort to disable SSL 3.0 in our web server we are trying to confirm whether all our visitors are using modern web browsers that support TLS. When looking at the Browser Versions report (Workspace > Site Overview > Site User > Browser Versions) the versions are listed in single digits (Firefox 2, Chrome 3, etc.).

Is there a way to see the full version? It's more likely the report means 2x and 3x respectively but we just need to confirm that.

Thanks

What version of SmarterStats are you using?  Looking at SS 10.x, that report is under Demographics > User Agents > Browser Versions.  This seems to break it down to the full version number for most browsers.

Hi Gary, we're using SmarterStats Professional 6.4 which based on what you're saying sounds ancient?

Yes, that's going back to 2012. You still may be able to make some modifications by looking at the UserAgentDef.xml file. You can refine what values are returned to SmarterStats based on the user agent info it finds in the log files. Unfortunately there is no documentation on how to do this, you really just need to experiment to see how your edits affect the results.
