Outlook App - on mobile devices
Question asked by Gary P - 11/22/2023 at 4:39 AM

We seem to have consistent problems with a client who primarily uses the outlook app on  tablet. Synchronisation just stops. It will then suddenly start synching again. When using an Exchange type account. (IMAP is fine)

I think this relates to Microsoft now taking data to their own servers and then synching to these as literally it works on all other clients (including outlook on PC and MAC).

The problem is the conversation view does not appear to work too well in IMAP.

Just curious if others are suffering similar issues?

I’m sorry to hear that you’re having trouble with the Outlook app on your tablet. Based on my search results, it seems that this issue is not uncommon. Here are some steps that you can try to resolve the synchronization issue: Reset your account: Open the Outlook app, go to Settings > Tap the account that is not syncing > Tap Reset Account. Check to see if your account is syncing. Force stop and restart the app: Force stop the app and reload it. If that doesn’t work, try restarting your device. Check your sync settings: Ensure that your sync settings are configured correctly. Contact support: If none of the above steps work, you can contact Outlook support for further assistance.

Thanks David, but those solutions don't work , more often than not Outlook support says they are aware of a sync issue with a subset of users and no ETA for fix is available, then it will resolve itself, some hours later.

Just curious how widespread the issue is? and is the outlook app with exchange type account now not really a viable option with smartermail?

Its widespread.... we migrated all our customers off the outlook app into the native apps on Adroid and IOS for that specific reason.

@Brian Bjerring-Jensen the problem is that some Android smartphones don't have a native mail app and I've not found a good free mail app.

I havent seen an Android phone without a native email but you can get the native app from Google Play if its not there.
