Is there a way to remove the large character block in webmail grid?

Not sure how to describe... but the large "block" with the first letter from who sent the email.....
Is there a way to disable or remove it from the email list?

In the user's webmail go to Account > Settings > Webmail > Hide email avatars in the message list
