I miss the response time for the dns server, can this be added to SM v16 like it was in v15?

Agreed - I quite liked the feature - was very helpful.

Thumbs up to this request.

When we hit the Rate-Limits on some RBLs (especially near peak mail loads such as Valentine's, Mother's Day, and Black Friday) the mail spool in SmarterMail would seemingly just stop responding and restarting the service wouldn't get mail flowing no matter how many times we tried. It was only when we glanced at the Antispam Settings that we would discover that an RBL was timing out or had an excessively long response time alerting us that we should disable it to get the mail spool running again. It is really, really useful and should be readded, if possible, to v16.

This could be prevented with automated thresholds, connected to a messaging system like a pop-up or text / sms gateway etc.
Never should dns response timeout stop the delivery of mail.
With a response time more than x milliseconds a dnsrbl could be temporarily skipped.

Hi, Richard...not to get too far off topic, but how did you upload that image? I'm not seeing it display in your post...

Thanks.

Okay, it looks like the image uploader may have mis-interpreted spaces in your file name. I've passed this along to the SmarterTrack team and they'll get it resolved for the next BETA build.

Just to respond to the original issue brought up: this is on our list and planned for a future release.

I like Richard's comment (need a Like button :)
With a response time more than x milliseconds a dnsrbl could be temporarily skipped.
For example, when the response time of a DNSBL > 5000ms for 10 minutes, then the DNSBL should be turned off and send an email alert to the admin for investigation. This would allow mail to keep flowing.

And FWIW, on the Antispam Admin screen, might want to change RBL to DNSBL as I think that's the modern terminology.

Can this also be included in V15?

I think it should be configurable as for the max response time / measurement period.

Yes, of course. Edited to say for example.

The average response times for RBLs was added back into the interface in SmarterMail 16.3.6530 (Nov 17, 2017).
