Show user's Display Name when sending from an alias
Idea shared by Damir Matešić - 6/7/2017 at 12:30 PM
Proposed
Hi,

when sending email using alias, it could be normal that the display name would be my full name or some custom value, not only the alias name.

So I created an alias like damir@mydomain.com and when sending from alias i get only damir for display name. When i am using  a non alias from i get my full display name like i want.

Thnx

Hello Damir,

At this time, sending a message from an email alias is designed to show the alias username as the display name. To differentiate which user sent the message from the alias, Domain Administrators can allow users to customize their signature mapping per alias. Otherwise, they can force a specific signature to be displayed. That said, I can understand your desire to show the display name of the user who sent the message instead. Or perhaps to even allow the Domain Administrator to configure a custom display name per alias.

Because this functionality is currently working as designed, I'm going to change this thread from a Problem to a Proposed Idea. For others who would also like to see this functionality, please be sure to vote up the thread and add your input on what you'd like implemented.

Thank you!

Hope that this would be implemented. You know, when using Outlook for example, when sending mail message from alias, the originally display name is shown for the account.
Example, i have info@domain.com and damir@domain.com and i want to be always Damir Matesic not some "info".
Thnx

Hi, are there any news when this will be implemented?

Hi Damir, I unfortunately don't have an update for this thread. The request had been submitted to the development team and is awaiting review. I've added an update to mention Outlook's implementation of the same functionality.

Thnx. Why is that, imagine i have a small company and i wan't to get mail messages to sales@company.com and to support@company.com. I don't need 2-3 mailboxes, just one. When replying from an alias the sender name is "sales" or "support" whitch is not so nice. I would like to have a possibility to have a nice name like "Damir M." or something like that. Maybe it could be the alias reply to name or the name of the mailbox from with the mal is sending from (alias can be pointed to many recipients)
