Add Ability to Block Specific Addresses for Plus Addressing
Idea shared by Ciaran Morgan - 5/20/2017 at 11:09 AM
Proposed
Hi

I use the Plus addressing facility (have done for years) of SmarterMail for automatic management of email into folders.
However, it is an all or nothing approach - i.e. I can either have it enabled or disabled only.  Is there a way to prevent certain plus addresses from being accepted as valid email addresses?

TIA
Ciaran

Hello Ciaran,

Thanks for reaching out! At this time there is not a way to limit Plus Addressing to only specific addresses or to restrict certain terms. I will change this thread from a Question to an Idea in order to facilitate tracking on this feature request.

Thank you!

I just tried this to block plus addresses and seemed to work. Might work at the domain and server level also but didn't get that far.

- Log in to the user account and go to user settings.
- Go to Content Filtering and create new filter. I named mine Plus Address Filter
- For condition set "To Address" and "matches". Enter any plus addresses you would like to filter and save.
- Next choose your action and save.
- Now save the rule and try it out.

I sent a few test messages from internal domains and external and it seemed to properly route them however I set in the action list.
