Migrating SM 13.x to a Different Server Already Running 15.x

Hello,

I've read through the FAQs about Migrating Smartermail and think I understand it.  I have one question though:

We are migrating a 13.x version of SM with about 6 domains to a 15.x SM that already has 1 domain in operation.  The 15.x target server isn't a brand new clean installation - we already have mail that is coming and going here.

This is my first migration and it appears that that standard migration is to stop the SM servers, copy a bunch of folders/XML files over, and restart.  But, will this work if we already have domains, users, filters, aliases in the target server?  We don't want to end up overwriting anything.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

You can move over the domain folders from 13 to 15 (while the service is off) then modify the domainList.xml file in
(C:\Program Files (x86)\SmarterTools\SmarterMail\Service) and add to that list the domains you transferred. Once that is done you should be able to boot the service back up and you'll have those domains now.
