How to change command address for mailing lists?
Question asked by Les Irvin - 4/19/2015 at 4:41 PM

SmarterMail mailing list documentation states that one can change the command address from stserv@example.com to something else, but it doesn't say how. Does anyone know where/how to change this?

Hello Les,

You may log in as the System Administrator and then select the Domain in question. Click on the Manage option and choose the Options tab. There is the Mailing List Username field that can be edited. The default is [stServ].
Please let me know if this helps.

Thank You.

Sorry, I must be dense. I don't see the options you indicate. I'm using SM 13.3. I'm in as system admin, I select the domain in question. Do I click the "Manage" icon on the left, or the "manage" menu option on the right panel? I've tried both and can find no "Mailing List Username" option via either route. Thanks in advance for your help.

Les, double-click on the domain in question or select the domain then choose Actions | Edit.  This will open the Domain features window where you can find the Options tab and the Mailing List Username.

Hope this helps!

Hi Les! Looks like Joe may have accidentally given the wrong steps for this. Log in as the System Admin. Right click on the domain and choose Edit. When you edit the domain you'll see the Mailing List Username on the Options tab.

Sweet! Thanks guys, it worked. While we're on the mailing list topic, I have two other quick questions if I may.

1) When "doubleoptin" is activated, the "subscribe" message does not seem to get sent. Disable doubleoptin, and subscribe gets sent. Is there a way to make both work simultaneously?

2) "Set mode digest [listname]" and "Set mode standard [listname]" sent to the command address seem to have no effect, in that the user doesn't get switched to the requested format, and no email response is sent.

Any insight? Thanks....
