How To - When SmarterTicket runs excessively slow when using MySQL

When using SmarterTicket with MySQL running on different server, the application runs excessively slow, with no corresponding high CPU usage on the server.

It may be that Reverse DNS lookups are enabled on the MySQL server. If so, disable Reverse DNS on the MySQL server to increase performance and to stabilize the system. 

In order to do this:

  1. Use MySQL Administrator
  2. Go to the Startup Variables section and click on the Networking tab. 
  3. Check the "disable name resolving" checkbox.

Important Note: Do not do this if another database on that server relies on reverse DNS.
