Enable Antivirus Quarantine

System administrators can quarantine outgoing messages that have been flagged as containing viruses by SmarterMail's ClamAV for a maximum of 30 days. Quarantining such messages allows administrators to investigate false positives and make appropriate adjustments or notify the developer of the virus scanner, if necessary.

Applies to SmarterMail 8.x - 15.x

Follow these steps to enable virus quarantining:

  1. Log in to SmarterMail as the system administrator.
  2. Click the Security icon.
  3. Click Antivirus Administration in the navigation pane. The antivirus settings will load in the content pane.
  4. Change the Virus Quarantine field to 15 days or 30 days.
  5. Click Save.
Follow these steps to view the contents of a message under quarantine:
 
  1. Log in to SmarterMail as the system administrator.
  2. Click the Manage icon.
  3. Expand the Spool folder in the navigation pane and click Virus Quarantine. A list of messages under quarantine will load in the content pane.
  4. Select the desired message. Then click the View menu in the content pane toolbar and click Message.
