Use SmarterMail's Spell Check Feature

Some browsers such as Google Chrome have a built-in spell check feature. For users of other browsers, SmarterMail includes an integrated spell check feature that may be utilized when composing messages.

Applies to SmarterMail 8.x-15.x.

Follow these steps to use the spell check feature in SmarterMail:

  1. Log in to the SmarterMail webmail interface.
  2. Click the Email icon. Depending on your settings, the Inbox or My Today Page will load.
  3. Click the New menu in the content pane toolbar and click New Message, or Reply to an existing message.
  4. A new message window will open, which you will use to compose the email message. When you are finished writing the email, click the spell check icon (ABC with a check-mark) in the WYSIWYG toolbar.
  5. Words spelled incorrectly will be highlighted with red underline. Click on the word to see suggested spelling options.

Feedback

I'm running SM 15. I don't see the point of clicking the spellcheck icon. Yes it does alert by the red squiggle line beneath a misspelled word in the email body but nothing happens other the the text field turning pale green when clicking the ABC icon. Shouldn't if offer suggestions of the correct spelling like other email programs?

Hello Jill! After clicking the ABC icon, you can click on the underlined words to see suggested spelling. If you'd like to see different functionality, I'd ask that you please voice your input at the Community. You can create a Proposed Idea about changing the functionality of the spell checker. One thing to keep in mind: I believe our editor will be changing with the interface redesign for the upcoming versions. So this would be a good time to discuss how users would like it to work. Thank you! http://portal.smartertools.com/community/

There doesn't seem to be a spellcheck feature in the latest version of SM 16, where has it gone?
YS Tech (6/27/2017 at 2:11 AM)
Hello Anthony. The spell check option in version 16 has been removed, as each of SmarterMail's supported browsers contain their own spell check functionality.
