Forward email and keep a copy in my inbox?
Question asked by Connie DeCinko - 6/1/2016 at 4:17 PM

I know that with IMAP I can configure my mail client to download copies of my messages and still leave a copy of them on the server.  Is it possible to do something similar with forwarding?  We would like to force certain compliance messages to our users to remain in their inbox, even if they have forwarding enabled.

Hi Connie. On the forwarding tab of your account settings in your webmail account, there is a box which you can check to delete messages when forwarded. If you leave that box unchecked, it will leave a copy of the message in the original inbox and also forward a copy to the forwarding address.

That would be for the entire inbox? Would be nice if you could specify at the folder level or mark messages from a certain recipient to never delete.

Yes, that is for the entire inbox. What you can probably do is create a folder and set up a rule to copy messages to that folder based on criteria that you choose.
