Do I need an Antivirus on a VM running WinServ 2008 R2?

Hi... I installed the latest version of SmarterMail on a Virtual Machine running Win Serv 2008 R2. The VM is dedicated to run ONLY SmarterMail. Do I need to install an Antivirus? Does it interfere with SmarterMails's antivirus?

Thanks,

Raul

Well.... if you give Remote Desktop access only to who knows what to do and the server security is well configured - only needed ports open, no unnecessary privileges - you don't need a antivirus.
I run Windows servers from almost a decade with antivirus only to email server and never had a virus issue.

If you choose to install an antivirus on your server, you MUST exclude the SMARTERMAIL PROGRAM DIRECTORY and the SMARTERMAIL root directory, which contains the DOMAN and USER data.

That data must never be touched by any program other than SmarterMail.

Never knew that. It makes sense, but never really thought about it.
